SBI Testing Programme - Mounting and Fixing Conditions for "Doublages"
 |
This report, requested by EUMEPS, concerns the reaction to fire performance of "doublage" products i.e. an expanded polystyrene (EPS) board covered with gypsum plaster board. But it is also representative of many end-use applications of EPS boards protected behind a covering. The aim of this testing programme is to evaluate the effect of mounting and fixing conditions of "doublage" in the SBI apparatus.

Reducing Climate Change
With EPS Insulation
 |
The purpose of this document is to discuss climate change due to global warming and the factors that influence this phenomenon.
It then goes on to describe how the use of expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation materials can assist in the minimisation of global warming.

EPS - Applications, colour codes and types
EPS The Environmental Truth :
Results of the Life Cycle Assessment
 |
The results of the Life Cycle Assessment of EPS show that the material is extremely safe to both its users and the environment.
EPS offers many environmental advantages over alternative building materials and moreover does so at all stages of its life, from manufacture to recycling.

Building a Better Environment with EPS
 |
The fact that EPS can be recycled in a variety of ways forms an important environmental asset.
The material can be directly re-used or melted to make compact styrene.
Besides this, EPS can be incinerated to recover the inherent energy content and it can be used for landfill.

Behaviour of EPS in case of fire
 |
The purpose of this document is to clearly quantify the fire performance of expanded polystyrene (EPS) when used as an insulation material in buildings.
This document will consider all aspects of the fire performance of EPS in terms of heat release, flame spread, smoke production and toxicity and its contribution to the propagation of fire.
Detailed information is provided on the characteristics of EPS foam as a basis for evaluating its behaviour when subjected to ignition sources.
The performance of fire retardant additives is also evaluated.
This information can be used for hazard assessment taking into account the complexity of a real fire and the difficulty of modelling real fire situations from scaled tests.
